I have laid before the Lords Commissioners of His
Majesty's Treasury your letter of the 30th May last (22,586/14) with enclosures respecting the estate of George
Ford, deceased.
In reply I am to request you to inform Secretary Sir E. Grey that in the circumstances Their Lordships are willing to waive any claim which the Crown may have to this estate on the ground of the intestacy of the deceased, on the understanding that, as suggested by the legal advisers to your Department, application will be made for the establish- ment by the Supreme Court of Shanghɛi, under its oberitable Jurisdiction, of a scheme for the application of the funde of the Estate for charitable purposes on the lines laid down in the Dead Poll executed by the trustees of the late
Mr. William Keswick.
